Dal is perhaps the most favourite meal of Indians worldwide. There are numerous variations that one can have. This one has Palak or Spinach in it.
Ingredients - Tur Dal or Yellow Lentils boiled in a Pressure Cokker, Chopped Palak or Spinach, Ghee or Clarified Butter, Jeera or Cumin Seeds, Kadipatta or Curry Leaves, Chopped Onion, Finely Chopped Ginger & Garlic, Green Chillies slit on the side, Hing or Asafoetida, Haldi or Turmeric Powder, Lal Mirch or Red Chilli Powder, Salt to taste.
Heat some ghee in a pan on a medium flame. Add Hing, Jeera, Curry Leaves & Green Chillies. Mix them together. Add chopped Onion and saute it till it turns golden brown. Cover the pan and let the onion cook. Add chopped Palak and salt. Mix everything together on low flame and cover the lid to let the Palak cook. After 5 minutes, add Turmeric & Red Chilli powder and mix everything and cover to let it cook for a few minutes with a closed lid. Add water and stir. Add the boiled Tur Dal and stir again. Cover the lif and let it cook for a few minutes to thicken the Dal. Serve it will love, for TASTE!
Dal Palak can be consumed with Rotis, Naans, Chapatis and different preparations of Rice.
